Razer gives its 14-inch Blade 14 gaming laptop an update with AMD Zen 4 processors and Nvidia RTX 4000 video cards. In addition to the new hardware, Razer is installing a new battery with a slightly larger capacity.

The Blade 14 is Razer’s smallest gaming laptop and it’s not much different from its predecessor in this latest generation. Razer will offer several versions of the Blade 14, but in all cases the processor is the Ryzen 9 7940HS. AMD announced this processor in January. The processor has eight cores, a maximum speed of 5.2GHz and a TDP that can be configured between 35 and 54W. It is not known what maximum power Razer has set for the laptop.

Razer will ship the cheapest Blade 14 with an RTX 4060 graphics card that’s set to max power at 140W. This is the maximum that Nvidia allows for this video card. The more expensive models have the RTX 4070 on board, which will also be set to 140W max.

To cool this device, Razer uses a vapor chamber, as is the norm with its laptops. Next to the steam room are two DDR5 memory slots. This is a change compared to the previous generation, because at that time the memory was still soldered.

The Blade 14 also has a new 68.1Wh battery. The previous model had a 61.6Wh battery. However, the battery life was getting shorter. For the new model, Razer claims up to ten hours of battery life, while the predecessor, according to Razer, could reach another 11 hours.

Finally, the screen has also undergone a change. The resolution has been increased from 2560 x 1440 to 2560 x 1600 pixels, and the refresh rate ranges from 165 to 240 Hz. The system weighs 1.83kg, which is a fraction heavier than the 1.78kg weighed by the previous generation. The Blade 14 is available for pre-order and will be available starting June 20, 2023. The cheapest model will cost $2,400. VAT converted and included, which would amount to approximately €2,700. However, the official price from Razer is not yet known, and it is also not known if the Blade 14 will be available in the Netherlands and Belgium at the same time.
