Thousands of people demonstrated in the Serbian capital, Belgrade, against the results of the parliamentary and municipal elections. It was won yesterday by the SNS party led by President Vucic and Prime Minister Brnabic.

SNS also emerged as the winner in Belgrade. According to the opposition, this is due to widespread fraud. Tens of thousands of National Socialist Party members from outside the capital were reportedly transported by bus to Belgrade to vote in the municipal elections.

Participants in the protest gathered in Belgrade this evening in front of the Electoral Council building. They shouted, “Thieves, thieves,” and “We will not let our votes be stolen,” and threw tomatoes, eggs, and toilet paper rolls.

Two opposition leaders said they would go on a hunger strike inside the building until Belgrade’s election results were annulled and residents could vote again.

Thousands of people participated in the protest

In the initial results, the National Socialist Party obtained 47 percent of the votes in the parliamentary elections, while the largest opposition party obtained 23 percent. If the situation continues like this, the National Socialist Party will obtain more than half of the seats in Parliament.

For Belgrade City Council, the differences are smaller. There the National Socialist Party received 38% of the votes, and the Socialist Socialist Party received 35%.

International observers and local media also reported the possibility of electoral fraud, both in elections in Belgrade and abroad.
