Omroep Flevoland – News – Mayor Van den Bos leaves Urk and is nominated for the Goes Award

Mayor of Urk, Cees van den Bos, has been nominated for the position of Mayor of Goes. Van den Bos calls it an honor and says he is very excited to get started and wants to get to know the residents quickly.

Van den Bos started in Urk in October 2020. Because of Corona, his appointment was in a small circle, without celebrations. Van den Bos’s departure is premature because the municipality’s mayor is being appointed for a six-year term.

Van den Bos also missed several months due to pneumonia.

“decisive and sympathetic”
The municipal council of Goos chose van den Bos because he is a decisive, empathetic and analytical person. He is also said to have a pleasant interaction with people and has a good sense of humour.

“We see him as an enthusiastic and committed director who wants to act as a citizen of all the people of Goisin,” says the head of the secret committee.

Back to Zealand
Van den Bos returns to Zeeland with his appointment in Goes. He was a local councilor in Schouwen-Duivenland from 2014 to 2020 on behalf of the SGP. After assuming the council position he left for Urk.

Van den Bos was the first SGP mayor of Urk. He succeeds Peter van Maren, who became mayor of Zaltbommel in 2020. When van den Bos was appointed, he was warned several times about “orc self-will”.

When will Van den Bos leave?
The 43-year-old mayor of Jos is expected to be appointed on February 1, 2024. The nomination still needs to be approved by the Interior Minister.
