MSI will make overclocking of its Z790 MAX motherboards easier. There will be a “P-Core Beyond 6 GHz+” option in the BIOS settings, making it possible to give Intel Raptor Lake Refresh CPUs a single-core boost up to 6.3 GHz with a single click.

User Share a screenshot For setup in MSI’s Click BIOS 5 interface. It shows six overclocking presets, one of which can achieve a single-core boost of 6.3GHz and a multi-core boost of 5.6GHz. This feature appears to be targeting Intel’s upcoming Raptor Lake Refresh desktop processors, as these are the first Intel CPUs that can achieve a 6GHz thermal speed. At least, if KS variables are not included.

Chi11eddog reports that the screenshot comes from the BIOS settings of the top model of the new Z790 series, the MEG Z790 ACE MAX. It is still unclear whether these overclocking options will also be available for other motherboards in the series. The Z790 MAX motherboards were announced in May and are already available. Intel Raptor Lake Refresh CPUs are expected to be released in October.
