Minisforum introduced AMD’s first discrete GPU mini PC with the HX90G. The computer will get an AMD Radeon RX 6650M GPU and a Ryzen 9 5900HX CPU. Later there will be other versions with a laptop GPU, such as a version with an Intel CPU. Prices are not yet known.

The HX90G gets a new 2.8-liter canister, which has two fans and seven heatpipes. Three of these heatpipes are for the CPU, and the rest are for the GPU. Minisforum claims that the mini computer will make “relatively little noise” even with heavy use, but doesn’t mention any numbers. The microcomputer will receive a 260W inverter, of which the CPU uses a maximum of 50W and the graphics processor is 100W.

The AMD Ryzen 9 5900HX processor gets a base clock speed of 3.3GHz with an overclocked speed of 4.6GHz. The graphics card gets 8GB of GDDR6 memory. Additionally, there are two 8GB Sodimm DDR4 memory cards and the HX90G gets a 512GB M.2-PCIe SSD. There is an additional M.2-2280 slot to expand this.

On the back there are three USB3.2 ports, one Ethernet port, two HDMI ports, and two DisplayPort ports. On the front there is a 3.5mm port, a USB3.1 port, and a USB-C port. The mini PC comes standard with Windows 11 Pro.

Pricing and availability are not known yet. The HX90G will be released in the new Neptune series from Minisforum, where the company wants to put more mini PCs with discrete GPUs. In addition to the Ryzen 9 5900HX variant, there will also be a Ryzen 9 6900HX version and an Intel Alder Lake mini PC, both with a Radeon RX 6650M mobile GPU, at a later date.
