Mario Kart 8 Deluxe will get five new characters in the coming months as part of the Booster Course Pass expansion. In addition, the fourth DLC load for this expansion pass will be available starting Thursday, with eight new tracks.

Nintendo suggests that the new characters are from previous Mario Kart games, but doesn’t say exactly which ones. Two additional loads of DLC are coming, featuring more courses and returning characters from the Mario Kart series. The company didn’t mention a concrete number of new drivers in its press release, but five question marks have appeared on the character selection screen since Thursday.

Nintendo previously announced the Booster Course expansion pass for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. It is a paid DLC pack with 48 additional circuits, which the Japanese game giant provides across six “waves”. The first eight-track installment became available in February of last year and included Mario Kart Wii’s Coconut Mall, Mario Kart Tour’s Tokyo Blur, and Mario Kart 64’s Choco Mountain. Later waves followed with trails like Mushroom Gorge and Waluigi Pinball.

The Booster Course Pass costs €25 and is also included in the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscription. In the near future, two more “waves” will appear, each containing eight circles, which should also contain the new characters.
