You don’t get congratulations from the king every day, so it would be a good idea to mention the correct year. Barne’s oldest resident, Jan Hartog, turned 106 this weekend, but saw 105 in a letter from King Willem-Alexander.
In addition to the private letter, Ms Hartog also received a visit from Mayor Mark Rowell on Sunday. Together they talked about the Corona QR code, saying that it was difficult for older people to get such a code.
However, the conversation was mainly about special congratulations, as the king erred. “It’s very good to be congratulated,” said the birthday boy, with a big smile, “but careless about this mistake.”
After the mayor’s visit, Mrs. Hartog left for her hometown of Woudenberg, where she celebrated a large party with family and friends.
