Having a slime shower on TV and then being confronted with images of it over ten years later. This is what happened to Halle Berry. The actress is angry at rapper Drake who is using her photo in his new single Slime you’re out.
To announce his new single, Drake is using a photo of Perry taken during the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards in 2012. In the photo, the actress’s face is covered in a layer of green slime.
When Perry posted a cryptic message on Instagram shortly after the song’s release, fans quickly thought it had something to do with Drake. “Sometimes you have to be the more mature man, even if you are a woman,” she wrote. Her followers then ask her what she thinks of the photo Drake is using.
“He didn’t get permission. This is not cool. I expected more from him,” Perry wrote in response to a follower. “Hence my message today. If the people you admire disappoint you, you have to be more mature and move on.”
When a follower told Perry that Drake didn’t have to ask for permission because the photo was from Getty Images, she reacted strongly. “He asked me for permission and I said no. Why are you asking if you plan on doing what you want anyway? This sounds like a middle finger to me. Do you understand now?”
Drake and R&B singer SZA, who also contributed to the song, have yet to respond to Perry’s displeasure. Perry’s photo still appears on artists’ Instagram accounts.
