Google Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro will have bigger batteries, according to a new rumor. Smartphones also charge faster than their predecessors. Unfortunately, the differences are not as great as we would like …

“Slightly bigger battery for the Google Pixel 8”
according to Android Authority Google is putting a larger battery in the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro. Although the differences are very small. Where the Pixel 7’s battery capacity is 4,355mAh, the Pixel 8 gets 4,485mAh. The Pixel 8 Pro has a 4,950mAh battery. This was still 4,926 mAh in the Pixel 7 Pro.
Whether you take advantage of it will mainly depend on the new Tensor G3 chip in the Pixel 8 series. It’s rumored to be much faster than the Tensor G2, but not much is known about the efficiency. If the new processor is more economical than its predecessor, this, along with a slightly larger battery, can provide better battery life.
Moreover, the Google Pixel 8 battery can be charged at a maximum of 24W. That’s still 20W on the Pixel 7. With the Pixel 8 Pro, that speed increases from 23 to 27W.
Although every progress is welcome, we are still disappointed about it. The differences are so small that you probably won’t even notice them. Many smartphones now charge faster. The OnePlus 11 gets 100W, and the Xiaomi 13 Pro up to 120W. The Pixel 8 series isn’t even close.
It’s also possible to top up battery juice wirelessly again with the new Pixels, but the speed remains the same: 20W on the Pixel 8, 23W on the Pixel 8 Pro.
More about the Google Pixel 8 (Pro)
Google is likely to introduce its new smartphones in October. The Pixel 8 will get a somewhat smaller 6.16-inch OLED display with a higher 120Hz refresh rate. This ensures smoother images. The Pixel 8 Pro retains the 6.7-inch OLED display, but it’s likely to be completely flat. Thus, the curved edges of the current model disappear.
We also already know a lot about the cameras of the Google Pixel 8 series. The main camera gets a larger sensor on both models for sharper photos. The Pro also has a new, no less than 64MP wide-angle lens. It’s also a bit wider, so you can capture more in your shots.
