
(ABM FN-Dow Jones) Fewer single-family homes were sold in the U.S. in September than a month earlier, but the decline was less than expected. This was revealed on Wednesday from figures from the US Department of Commerce.
The number of new single-family homes fell 10.9 percent on a monthly basis to 603,000 units. The August figure was revised to 677,000 from 685,000.
Economists expect 593,000 new housing starts in September.
The median home price is $470,600. The median sales price was $517,700, slightly lower than last month.
