In a video posted to Instagram, Drake Bell commented on the app’s “reckless and irresponsible” conversations he had with an underage girl. Singer and actor known for Nickelodeon series Drake and JoshHe was given a suspended prison sentence for last summer.
Drake reportedly met the girl online in 2017. She was 15 and he was 31. The two had sexual conversations, but once the actor found out her age, he said he stopped texting. However, the girl continued to follow him for shows, meet-and-greets, while Drake did not know that he was the same person he was writing.
Texting with the girl is also what the singer owes. In his Instagram video, he again said that it was “reckless and irresponsible” for him to have those conversations. “But I want to make it clear that no sexual pictures were sent and nothing physical happened between me and this person. They were just apps.”
The actor felt that his settlement – 200 hours of community service and a two-year suspended prison sentence – was the best way to put everything behind him as quickly as possible. This way everyone involved can go on with their lives. It also allowed me to continue what I love most, which is making music.”
