The proposed acquisition will be submitted to the relevant works councils for advice. The ACM must also approve the plan. Earlier this year, ACM halted a merger between RTL and Talpa. The combined company would then occupy a very strong position in the commercial media landscape.
ACM has now said it will carefully consider the planned acquisition. According to an ACM spokesperson, the takeover has yet to be formally submitted to the supervisory authority.
DPG is the publisher of, among others, NU.nl, advertisement, De Volkskrant, devotion And Hit Parole. Radio stations Qmusic and JOE are also originally under the Belgian media company. In Belgium, DPG is already a part owner of RTL Belgium.
