The New Yorker reports that a police arrest team has received a tip that Laundry may have been settled in a rest house. But it turned out to be “doppelganger” Severin Beckwith. During his arrest, he was taken wearing his underpants and immediately taken care of by officers. “I was going to get an incision on the top of my inner ear, just like him,” the innocent backpacker told the magazine.

It is believed that an employee at Fontana Lake Marina called the authorities and secretly took a picture of him. Since then, the couple has been offered a free night’s stay and a buffet. “We ate as much as we could,” Beckwith of New York said. At least they have a story to tell at home.

The parents of 22-year-old Gabe gave an interview on 60 Minutes. They say “calm and polite” Brian won their trust. “We thought he would take care of her. He seemed like a nice guy.”

“She seemed happy,” says Gabe’s father. The couple have recorded videos of their trip on social media. “But now that we know more and more about it, it seems they weren’t as knowledgeable as what people were told on the internet.”
