Dell has announced a new version of the XPS 13 laptop. The biggest innovation, according to the manufacturer, is a much smaller motherboard, which means the laptop should be lighter and more powerful, yet last longer when the battery is charged.

The New XPS 13 Type #9315. The laptop is the same length and width as its 9300 predecessor, but at 14mm it’s slightly thinner than the 14.8mm of the previous XPS. The screen again is a 13.4-inch 16:10 screen, and there are options with a resolution of 3840 x 2400 pixels and 1920 x 1200 pixels. Only the 4k option has a touch screen.

The processor is an Intel Core i5-1230U or Core i7-1250U, both of which are 10-core processors with 12MB cache. As for memory, there are options 8, 16 and 32 GB, and in all cases two-channel Lpddr5 memory with a frequency of 5200 MHz. Storage ranges from 256 GB to 1 TB; In all cases it is SSD.

Dell is giving the laptop a 51Wh battery, which can be charged at 45W via USB-C. The laptop has two Thunderbolt 4 ports and no other ports. A USB-C to USB-A adapter is included in the box, and Dell optionally includes a USB-C to 3.5mm adapter. Nothing is known about the European version yet. XPS 13 will be available in the US starting at $999 with Windows 11; The Ubuntu version costs $50 less.

Dell XPS 2-in-1 with 5G

Dell also offers the XPS 2-in-1 with 5G. The connection to mobile networks is done via the e-SIM chip in the device. This is an option. The Wi-Fi only model is coming out as well. The 2-in-1 version of the XPS 13 also comes with 12th generation Intel Core processors. Memory is Lpddr4x instead of Lpddr5.

The screen is a 13-inch LCD screen with a 3:2 aspect ratio and a resolution of 2880 x 1920 pixels, the 2-in-1 has only two Thunderbolt ports for charging and connecting devices, the laptop has a 49.5Wh battery which can also be charged at 45WA. It is not known yet, as it will only be released in the summer. Nothing is known about a version in the Benelux either of the 2-in-1.
