Channah reveals in the first episode of From Koertjes to Curaçao They live more like brother and sister than lovers. “A really big change has to happen for this to work,” she says candidly. “I can’t even remember what it was like before. (…) I don’t even feel like I’m doing my best anymore. I will no longer pull a dead horse.”

The prestigious couple hopes to turn the tide by pursuing their dream and immigrating to sunny Curaçao with the whole family. It works or breaks, because Channah and Quentin’s relationship is on the verge of falling apart. “If I broke up now, I’d think: OK,” Quentin admits. According to him, things are not going well between them because the mother of his children got to know his “partisan version” during it. Ex on the beach, when in fact it is “too boring”.

Despite all the problems, the two stay together, for the sake of the kids. “You don’t want to deprive your son of a father,” Shana said. “Because you did it then.”

On the island, Koertjes are looking for the perfect location to start their bed and breakfast. Curaçao is a logical choice for the two of them, because Quentin has another daughter there. He says of her, “I just try to keep in touch with her as much as possible. I can’t be with her all the time, of course it’s a short trip, but I try to go there at least once a year and clothes a month and whatever her mom needs.”
