The entire Gaza Strip has been divided into two parts by the Israeli army. Israeli army spokesman Daniel Hagari said on Sunday evening, after Israeli forces arrived on the coast of the Gaza Strip, that there is now “north Gaza and south Gaza.” The encirclement of Gaza City, the largest city in the Gaza Strip, has also been completed. The army expects to begin the attack on that city within 48 hours.

However, according to the spokesperson, civilians should still be able to flee to the southern part of the Gaza Strip. “This is a one-way corridor to the south,” he explained. For three weeks, the Israeli army has been calling on residents of the northern Gaza Strip and Gaza City to move south temporarily, away from the heart of the war against Hamas.

Hajari also said that the army began on Sunday evening to expand its air and ground attacks on the densely populated coastal strip, which he described as a “major operation.” The expansion of the scope of the Israeli attacks actually coincided with the cutting off of all communications and Internet services in the Gaza Strip, which was reported by the Palestinian Telecommunications Company Paltel on Sunday.

Last week, Israeli soldiers entered the Gaza Strip to conduct a ground operation. One of the goals was to reach the sea from the east, thus dividing the region into two parts. Israel plans to completely invade the northern Gaza Strip and expel Hamas from the area.
