If you extend it too far, you will suddenly see monsters, obstacles and other things that may not be there, but will definitely destroy your boat.

After a slew of The Dark Pictures games, The Quarry feels like the Until Dawn sequel that Supermassive fans have been clamoring for. This lies in the value of the cast and production, but also in just the subject matter: instead of focusing on one legend, we get a great summer camp story in which teens do…teen things. So The Quarry is never scary, but you automatically become attached to the characters and then the consequences of your choices suddenly become very important.

Five Nights At Freddy’s is Resident Evil for Generation Z – shocking but true. But this time, you have to escape into an open world by showing camera images and hiding.

It’s exciting to explore the house together and talk to a ghost through the microphone, but it’s even scarier to catch him once he appears in unexpected ways. It’s a bit like walking into a haunted house with your friends and not wanting to admit that it’s too exciting.

The morgue assistant somehow seems a bit cheap. The game relies too heavily on jump scares and doesn’t do its best to create a good story. However, the elaborate cleaning and recovery of the bodies creates unbearable tension. And when the game scares you, you have to come from a good background so you don’t jump out of your seat.

Stasis: Bone Totem is a horror-adventure game where a married couple Mac and Charlie suddenly have to survive on a stranded ship. The game is full of puzzles that depend on the unique skills of the characters and their robot Moses Bear. The body horror in Stasis is particularly compelling: in and around the ship you regularly find corpses and mutilated animals, which are depicted in incredibly detailed and striking ways. Exploring the seabed or an abandoned temple alone is not fun at all.

Children of the forest

Sons of the Forest is an impressive survival game, which after the 1.0 update is much better optimized than the previously released Early Access version. Given the in-depth survival systems and beautiful nature, you’ll almost forget that it’s also a horror game par excellence, with exciting journeys through dark forests, thrilling battles against cannibals and completely unexpected situations involving supernatural elements.

Alien: isolation

Where almost every horror game puts a gun in your hands, you’re defenseless in Alien: Isolation. The gameplay therefore consists of running away and hiding from the titular monster, which can be around any corner. The animal learns from your actions, and you must ensure that you as a player are unpredictable. The game is somewhat repetitive, but it’s still one of the best horror experiences on consoles and PC.

Dead space

Dead Space is a classic, and horror games benefit greatly from a graphics boost. EA’s Motive Studio did its best to depict the aliens, ship, and weapons as convincingly as possible. Moreover, it carries over a lot of aspects from the later parts, and the gunfights with the aliens are designed in such a way that the veterans are constantly put in unexpected situations.
