ASUS launches ROG gaming laptops with Mini LED and OLED screens – Computer – News

ASUS is introducing new gaming laptops at CES, most notably the Zephyrus G14 and G16. These laptops are equipped with new Intel processors and are available with a mini LED or OLED display.

The Zephyrus G14 and G16 will get a new housing for the 2024 model year, which is thinner than the previous generation. In addition, laptops can be identified by a diagonal row of LEDs located on the back of the screen. In previous generations of Zephyrus laptops, ASUS put the Anime Matrix display there, but that is no longer available in this new generation. The casing is made of aluminum and is available in gray and white.

The 14-inch model, the G14, has an OLED display with a resolution of 2880 x 1800 pixels, G-SYNC support and a 120Hz refresh rate. ASUS also promises screen calibration, with a deviation of less than 1ΔE. The laptop is equipped with an 8000 generation AMD Ryzen processor and an RTX 4070 video card with a maximum TGP of 90W, and there is 32GB of RAM, 1TB of storage, Wi-Fi 6E, and a 73Wh battery. .

The larger 16-inch model is also equipped with an OLED display with a resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels and a refresh rate of 240Hz, just like Razer’s recently announced Blade 16. The G16 is equipped with Intel Meteor Lake generation processors. The fastest model gets the Ultra 9 185H and an RTX 4090 video card, with a 115W TGP, and the laptop is also equipped with a maximum of 32GB of RAM and 4TB of storage, split between two 2TB SSDs. Whether the Netherlands and Belgium will extradite it, and at what price, is not yet known.

ROG Strix SCAR models will also receive an update during CES. Unlike the thin Zephyrus models, SCARs don’t focus on a compact form factor and low weight. ASUS offers the SCAR 16 and 18 with a Core i9 14900HX processor and up to an RTX 4090 video card, with TGP up to 175W. Both laptops come with a small LED backlit display divided into more than two thousand zones. The screens have a resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels and a refresh rate of 240 Hz. These models also have a maximum of 4TB of storage, split between two 2TB SSDs, while the RAM is a maximum of 64GB. It is not yet known whether the versions in the Netherlands and Belgium have these specifications and how much they will cost.

Finally, ASUS is refreshing the slightly cheaper Strix G16 and G18. Both laptops also get a 14th generation Intel processor, at most a Core i9-14900HX. There is a maximum RTX 4080 video card in the laptop. Both the 16-inch and 18-inch models have a 2,560 x 1,600-pixel display and a 240Hz refresh rate, but no mini LED backlight, like the SCAR versions. It is also not known in which configuration these laptops will come to the Netherlands and Belgium.
