Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is now the second most profitable game of all time for Ubisoft. It happened in less than twelve months; The game came out in November 2020. The company mainly attributes this to in-game purchases and downloadable content (DLC).
In the first half of Ubisoft’s 2021 fiscal year, which runs from April 2021 to the end of March 2022, sales of €718.2 million were recorded, 4.8 percent lower than the previous year. Roughly half of that, 348.6 million, comes from Frequent investment player. This includes revenue from microtransactions and downloadable content (DLC). Which Ubisoft says in a statement of its financial results.
These frequent player releases are also why Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is already the company’s second highest-grossing game in a year, according to Ubisoft. It is not mentioned how much profit the game made, and which game in the first place.
Far Cry 6 is also doing well according to Ubisoft. The company says the first sales numbers “match” those of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey during the same period. Ubisoft also reports that each player’s playtime is 25 percent higher than it was with Far Cry 5.
Moreover, Ubisoft mentions in its report which platforms have the best performance in terms of game sales. This shows that PlayStation consoles in particular have caught on; In the second quarter of the current fiscal year, 37 percent of gaming revenue came from Sony platforms, which is 10 percent more than the second quarter of fiscal 2020.
The computer has a 20 percent share of game sales. This is twelve percent less than the previous year. Xbox consoles took 19 percent this quarter, compared to 16 percent in 2020. Mobile platforms took ten percent, down three percent, and the Nintendo Switch took seven percent, up one percent from the second quarter of last year.
