The Apple Vision lineup is reportedly considering releasing more powerful and cheaper versions of the Vision headset. The next generation of VR and AR headsets should also be lighter and offer a better solution for users who wear glasses.

Apple according to A newsletter from Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman Working internally on the upcoming Vision VR headsets, since the current Vision Pro was completed several months ago. According to him, the team is studying different new configurations, including a cheaper version and a more powerful version. It’s not clear if this relates specifically to the previously discussed cheaper Vision Pro that Apple reportedly delayed this summer.

The main goal will be for the device to become a lot lighter. It is not yet officially known what the weight of the Vision Pro will be, but according to Gorman, tests show that the headset is currently too heavy for some users. Apple has already tried to reduce the weight of the glasses by removing the battery from the actual headset.

Another focus within the Vision Products Group, according to Gorman, is the solution for users who wear glasses. To reduce the size of the upcoming Vision Pro headset, Apple reportedly left no room for any glasses. Instead, the company is working with Zeiss to provide special prescription lenses for the headphones. Apple reportedly wants to integrate the lenses into glasses for the next model. This is another potential problem, Gorman says, because the built-in prescription lenses make it difficult to loan or resell the headset. He stresses that the plans are still at an early stage.

The same newsletter showed that rival Meta currently “fears Apple” when it comes to the brand’s tech innovations in the field of virtual reality headsets. Meta is also said to be considering new configurations for the next Quest headset.
