Peter Simonchik passed away on Monday at the age of 76. The Austrian actor is best known abroad for his role in the critically acclaimed comedy Tony Erdmann. The cause of his death has not been revealed.
The Vienna Burgtheater, of which Simonicek was a part for decades, memorializes the actor as “a loving and caring fellow, friend, man of heart, and an outstanding personality. He was one who took an interest in the topics of our time and stood up for his opinion.”
Tony Erdmann Won many awards. The film won, among other things, the prestigious German Film Lolas Prize. became too Tony Erdmann Nominated for an Oscar.
Hadewych Minis had a supporting role in the comedy film. The Dutch actress describes Simonschek as a “great actor” and “a great fellow”. “It was my first big role abroad, and I found it very exciting,” Menace recalls.
“Not only was Peter smart, but he was also incredibly kind and caring, both on his game and off the set. He was always warm and engaging and did everything to make me feel comfortable. I have nothing but fond memories of that time.”
The Austrian actor has played in about eighty films and television, mostly in German.
