The price of the long-awaited Spotify subscription has been leaked with lossless sound quality, new AI DJ function and longer listening time for audiobooks. The new subscription will cost $20 per month in the US.

Spotify has already announced its HiFi subscription at the beginning of 2021. This will be a music subscription in lossless quality: without compression and therefore with more detail and definition – for those with the right equipment and good hearing. This subscription is still not available, while competitors like Apple Music and Amazon Music already offer lossless music to their subscribers at no additional cost. Now there’s another sign of life from Spotify’s new subscription, spotted in the app’s code by a Reddit user sh/hypexly.

This may relate to the “Supremium” subscription mentioned earlier. This is in addition to the existing Premium subscription and offers a number of extras. This way, subscribers will receive lossless 24-bit quality music, “without lag or delay.” The rumors did not mention Dolby Atmos, the spatial music format that is supported by more and more services and devices.

The price hidden in the Spotify app indicates $19.99 per month – although this could still change. The regular premium subscription costs $10.99 in the US, and here since the recent price increase it costs $10.99.

Audiobooks and smart add-ons

The Supremium subscription will also include 30 hours of audiobooks included. According to rumors, regular Premium subscribers will soon get 20 hours of audiobooks per month with their subscription.

Spotify’s most expensive subscription also appears to have an AI DJ that can also create playlists. Users can organize their library by mood, activity, or genre. Playlists can be organized by beats per minute, or via artificial intelligence through the ability to dance.

There is also a Soundcheck function, which also uses AI to learn from the user’s listening behavior and create a unique playlist accordingly. Spotify does not want to respond to the information found.
