When you get caught, there are probably many things going on in your head. What you probably don’t think of is the famous song by Clint Mansell from the catchy movie Requiem for a Dream.
The pianist at Tilburg Central thinks otherwise. A video that appeared on video platform Dumpert on Sunday afternoon shows someone being pressed against a wall by two police officers and being searched in Tilburg Central. The director talks about the arrest.
Not that exciting in and of itself. Some of the travelers in the video even stare into the distance in boredom or eat their sandwich without moving. No, the thing that stands out is the sound. Because while all this is happening, the pianist begins to dramatize Song Requiem for a dream on the piano.
The video received a lot of backlash online, mainly due to the pianist’s sense of timing and humor. Requiem for a Dream, or indeed Lux Aeterna as the song is officially called, is one of the most amazing, sad, and beautiful pieces of music ever written.
Still, much is unclear about the video. Because who is the pianist? When was this filmed? Why was someone arrested? These are questions we don’t have an answer to yet. In any case, there are a few unanswered questions about The Pianist’s humor.
