Bradley Cooper is putting his favorite American football team, the Philadelphia Eagles, at the forefront of his film career. The director and actor would rather have his team win the Super Bowl than take home Oscars for his new movie Artist, band leader.
Cooper makes a startling statement in a conversation with radio DJ Howard Stern. Cooper is known to be a die-hard Philadelphia Eagles fan. So Stern presents him with the following dilemma: “You win the Oscar, not only for Best Director, but also for Best Actor. Carey Mulligan also wins Best Actress. Or the Eagles win the Super Bowl.” Cooper doesn’t have to think about it for long. “The Eagles win the Super Bowl,” he answers without hesitation, which Stern does not believe. “Eagles, eagles! Seriously, I mean it.”
Cooper has been nominated for an Academy Award nine times in his career so far. He received nominations, among others, for his roles in silver linings playbook, American sniper And A star is born. He also almost won awards as a producer or director. However, he never won the important film award.
The Eagles have won the NFL’s season finale once so far, in 2018. Last year, the team lost the Super Bowl to the Kansas City Chiefs.
