More than three months after the election, all 21 water boards have a new executive board. The Schieland and Krimpenerwaard Water Board was the latest to appoint a board on Thursday.
The board there consists of representatives from Water Naturally, VVD, PvdA and the combined fractions of Onbouw and Natuurterreinen. All water boards had to form a new board by Thursday at the latest.
Water, of course, won six seats in Schieland and Krimpenerwaard in the water council elections on 15 March – the same time as the county council elections – making it the largest party.
This alliance agreement is called the Water Board Working together on future water management in uncertain times. The BBB, which gained three seats, was not granted a place on the Executive Board. The BBB Group described the four-page coalition agreement as “disappointing, unambitious and financially unfounded”.
Other parties have also criticized the agreement, saying it lacks vision. On most other water boards, BoerBurgerBeweging is part of the board.
Half of the twelve Dutch provinces now had a new coalition: Limburg, Gelderland, Zeeland, Flevoland, South Holland and Groningen. Negotiations are still going on in the other governorates. Friesland and North Brabant saw formation fail in the last minute. Both counties are now negotiating a coalition in a new combination.
