Xiaomi has always managed to score high scores with the Redmi Note series and this also applies to the Redmi Note 11. For just under 200 euros, it has specifications that you will only find elsewhere in the more expensive segment. For example, there is a Full-HD OLED display that can refresh at ninety frames per second, which looks smooth. The maximum brightness is so good that it can compete with the high-end devices.
This smartphone also scores very well in terms of battery life, especially if you use the device to watch videos. The combination of a 50MP main camera and an 8MP wide-angle camera is quite versatile for the money, although 4K video recording isn’t supported like most budget smartphones.
Xiaomi has not forgotten the headphone jack, the placement of two SIM cards, the microSD card reader and the fingerprint reader. The phone runs the MIUI software from Xiaomi and is not free from unwanted apps and ads, but it does offer many customization options.
TCL 30E
At €134 at the time of writing, the TCL 30E is the cheapest phone we’d recommend. You can see that from the specs. The screen has a low resolution of 720p and refreshes at sixty frames per second – which is less smooth than the competitor above. The processor isn’t top-notch either, and the faster Wi-Fi standards aren’t supported.
Many other basics are good for each other. The screen is bright enough and the battery life is good. The device comes standard with a storage capacity of 64 GB with the ability to use two SIM cards and a memory card at the same time. In addition, the 30E is equipped with a fingerprint scanner and a 50-megapixel main camera, functions that you do not see standard in this segment.
In the event that the TCL 30E is sold for this amount, you can consider the Nokia G11 as an alternative. It has a 90Hz screen and a much faster processor, but a lower quality camera on paper and only 32GB of storage in the cheaper variant.
