The suspect’s car has been located and the driver arrested, Albuquerque’s police chief said yesterday. He is our prime suspect in the murders.
Charged with two counts of murder
The district attorney for the city of Albuquerque announced shortly afterward that the man had been charged with two counts of murder. Police are still investigating whether he can be booked in two more murders.

Shot out of nowhere
The first murder in the series happened in November. Three more people were killed in the past two weeks. All the victims were shot more or less out of nowhere and were of Pakistani or Afghan origin.
The killings sparked unrest among Albuquerque’s small Muslim community of 565,000. President Joe Biden also expressed his outrage over the killings this weekend. “I am outraged and saddened by the brutal murders of four Muslim men in Albuquerque,” he wrote.
‘Pray for families’
“As we await a full investigation, I pray for the families of the victims. My government stands behind the Muslim community. These hateful attacks have no place in America.”
