Last week, King Albert of Belgium turned 90 years old. To celebrate this occasion, a number of new photos were published, including a photo of three generations. It’s great that the royals continue to do this, even after abdicating.

Last year, a similar photo appeared of Princess Beatrix, King Willem-Alexander and Amalia. Now it is the turn of King Albert, King Philip and Princess Elizabeth.

Vote for the first time

The Belgian king’s children also voted for the first time last Sunday. Even Princess Eleonore at the age of sixteen can also vote in the European elections. King Philippe and Queen Mathilde do not vote for themselves, but are excluded from mandatory attendance because they must be politically neutral. However, their children voted this time. And yes, this is the first time for all four. The quartet simply joined the queue in the street. They reportedly had to wait there for about 40 minutes.

On Sunday, June 9, European, federal and regional elections were held in Belgium. Elizabeth, Gabrielle and Emmanuel also had to vote in federal and provincial elections. I had to do this, due to the mandatory attendance implemented in Belgium. If you don’t show up, you can easily get a fine. Eleonore voted alone in the European elections. She may not vote in other elections until she reaches eighteen years of age.
