These 3 Brabant Restaurants Are Now in the Michelin Guide

From French bistro dishes to pickled salmon: Brabant has three more Michelin restaurants. These gastronomic restaurants have been added to the Michelin Guide by Michelin inspectors. Blue Bar Bistro in Breda, De Wilg in De Mortel and Reblochon in Haaren are among the best in the Netherlands. But whether they can boast a Michelin star remains to be seen.

Although the French company Michelin originally worked in the tire industry, most people will know it from the Michelin stars on very good restaurants. Michelin inspectors visit restaurants anonymously to taste them thoroughly. If they like them, they are added to the Michelin Guide.

Strict control by inspectors
The inspectors visited Breda, De Mortel and Harenne. The three restaurants were evaluated by inspectors on various matters. Of course how good and unique the food is, but also what the overall look and experience of the restaurant is. Strict oversight, which makes the addition to the Michelin Guide very special.

Inspectors praised the French bistro dishes served by Blue Bar Bistro in Breda. “How about a pâté en croût vit maison for starters, followed by rich beans au vint and a classic madeleine for dessert? Rich flavors guaranteed!” The restaurant’s Parisian look was also praised.

At De Wilg, Michelin inspectors were amazed by the unique setting: the restaurant is housed in a former primary school. Chef Boy van Gerwen in particular received a fair amount of praise. They wrote: “Even for those who don’t want to eat fish or meat, you will find suitable options both on the menu and on the surprise menu. De Wilg stands for generosity and a good price-quality ratio.”

Finally, Haaren’s Reblochon was included in the Michelin Guide. A restaurant “without nonsense”, but there were still plenty of surprises. The inspectors were served all sorts of things: pickled salmon, veal steak, even a cheese board. “They turned it into a cozy living room restaurant.”

No Michelin star yet
Can these restaurants also boast a Michelin star? This will not be announced until later during the annual star gala. According to Michelin, when a restaurant receives a star, it means the following:

– One star: “Excellent cuisine.”

– 2 stars: “Sophisticated cuisine worth a visit.”

– 3 stars: “Exceptional cuisine worth the trip.”

Just because a restaurant has a star, it doesn’t mean it can lose focus. For example, the Nobel restaurant in Den Bosch lost its Michelin star last year.
