Sonos wants to deliver core functionality in controversial app ‘in the coming months’ – Image & Sound – News

There is also a lack of support for listening to music through local libraries; Users can only listen to commercial music services such as Spotify.

That’s not entirely true,TijsZonderH… It is possible to listen more or less to your own library.

However, the functionality to update your own library is missing, so if you add new music, you’ll need the old app (or desktop app) for Sonos to do the scanning.

I’m also having an issue where the app refuses to play something from its own library if the album name contains a colon or forward slash. This is not unusual in classical music, and this is exactly what the lion’s share of my library consists of. It seemed to me that it was playing certain albums, but instead of one album it played the next album (alphabetically).

All in all a really bad update. Very painful because you can’t go back to the previous version of the app on iOS/iPadOS. It really takes courage to dare to launch an app whose core features you already know are missing and other features are incomplete. I find it annoying enough that I can no longer get half my library to work, but I’ve read that there are people who can’t turn off the alarm because the app doesn’t support it. If you’re going to remove such a feature, why not at least give users the opportunity to remove the alarm from your Sonos device?
