Matijn Nijhuis will join Gijs Staverman on Radio 10. “From Monday 19 August I can be heard on Radio 10, as Gijs Staverman’s regular newsreader,” Matijn says on social media. The newsreader is now still working for NOS on NPO Radio 2. “It’s like I’m dating.” He will be heard for the last time on the public channel on 18 July.

“I’m really looking forward to developing myself in other areas too. Being part of a new show on Radio 10, which still has to prove itself. It’s an exciting step, but one I have every confidence in.

“I have the feeling that I am dating,” says Matten in the Telegraaf. “I am now with the biggest channel and the biggest news organization on a permanent contract. I have given up a lot for this, but I hope to get a lot in return. I have never belonged to a single program at NPO Radio 2. At Radio 10, I have the opportunity to join the Gijs team and to be able to express more creativity.

Nijhuis started his career at the local radio Almelo. Later he was also seen on television at RTV Oost. In 2000 he left for NOS. In recent years he has been known as a newsreader in the Top 2000 list. In 2019 he won the RadioFreak award for best newsreader. He was also editor-in-chief of Kermes FM.

Giggs at 10

Starting next Monday, Staverman can be heard every working day between 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. with the song “Gijs op 10”.
