Microsoft expands Copilot AI features in Microsoft 365 – PC – News

In our (large) company the amount is up to 30 euros per month and, in reality, it is difficult to justify because this is actually more than per employee. Although it can bring some savings.

I think it’s mainly about certain roles that work a lot with text. It actually works better in words, which makes sense because the basis is the language model.

In Outlook, the “Summarize my emails” feature works well, but it doesn’t add much. I don’t find the draft that Copilot makes very useful, I have to make a lot of edits to it, so it would be better if I could do it myself.

In Teams, the usefulness of meeting notes is severely limited due to low quality transcription. It’s absolutely worthless if not everyone is a native English speaker, so the summary at the end of Copilot is not accurate. Garbage in, garbage out.

Powerpoint is very limited. Create a simple presentation “to give a presentation on office safety” without any problems. But then it rejects iterative improvements (“make slide 2 clearer”, “add a slide about xyz”). Then it says you have to do it yourself. And if you want actual business topics, it quickly abandons the topic because it becomes too specific.

And Excel… this doesn’t work at all. It only works if you save your documents in the cloud and only with tabular data, and the context window of LLM is too small to analyze seriously. I think the Excel component is the oldest of all.

These are all things that could be improved, but I think it’s a strange decision to put it on the market like this. It’s not over in my eyes.
