Japan’s Ami won gold in the first Olympic dance competition, spinning, jumping and swinging over 16 other dancers on Friday in a high-energy contest that may not return at future Games.

Paris– Japanese breakdancer Ami won gold in the first Olympic breakdancing competition, spinning, jumping and swinging past 16 other dancers on Friday in a high-energy competition that may not return at future Games.

My mother, whose legal name is Ammi Yuasa, won all three rounds in a battle against break dancer Danielle Nika (Dominika Panevic) of Lithuania to take the gold medal, capping a long day of flow, rhythm and skill at the Place de la Concorde.

The B girls stunned the crowd with Power movements Like head spins, windmills and backflips. The fans were kept energized throughout the evening, which began in the afternoon and ended just before 10 p.m.

Starting from the quarterfinals, eight of the 17 girls competed in three-round knockout battles to reach the finals. Banevich won the silver medal, and China’s 671 (legal name Liu Qingyi) took the bronze after competing with India-Dutch (legal name India Sarju) to the tune of “Boom!” by The Roots. Qingyi is a relative newcomer to the dance scene.
