French McDonald's threatens escalation after Stephen Curry's Olympic performance

Stephen Curry’s gold-medal-winning performance over the weekend was enough to propel the United States to a gold medal and prompt McDonald’s in France to rethink one of its sauces.

The company joked on social media Sunday that it had to rethink its classic curry sauce in the face of the NBA star’s herculean effort against France at the Olympics.

“For obvious reasons, we are considering removing this sauce,” McDonald’s France posted on Instagram, according to a translation of the post.

The photo was posted under the caption “For at least 4 years.”

The French are likely to feel some grief after Curry put on a stunning performance, scoring 24 points and hitting four three-pointers in the final three minutes of the game to secure the gold medal for the United States on Saturday.

It was his three-pointer with 33 seconds left that gave the United States a nine-point lead and broke French hearts.

This year’s Olympics marked the second consecutive Summer Games in which the United States and France faced each other in the gold medal match.

“I’ve seen it from Steve a few times, but it never gets old,” U.S. and Warriors coach Steve Kerr told reporters. “It’s a global game with a lot of great players, but we still feel like we have the greatest players. They’ve all been selfless throughout this, with all the noise, with all the pressure. We might be the only team in the world that their fans would be ashamed of if they got the silver medal, and that’s the pressure we’re under.”

“But our players – and you saw Steve – love the pressure. They appreciate the atmosphere, and they were fantastic.”

Carey told reporters: According to ESPNwhere he imagined every shot he took that he would enter it.

“All I saw was the edge of the goal. I didn’t see who was in front of me. I knew it was a bit of a late situation, but that shot blew me away,” he said of the shot that came after 33 seconds.

The fun of the Olympics may have been put on hold by a situation involving Curry’s wife, Ayesha, and his mother, Sonia, who appeared to get into an altercation with French police after the gold medal match.
