Bears rookie midfielder Romi Odunze signs 4-year, $22.7 million contract

CHICAGO — Chicago Bears quarterback Rome O’Donnell signed his rookie contract Tuesday, the same day rookies headed to Halas Hall for training camp.

The No. 9 pick in the draft signed a fully guaranteed, four-year, $22.7 million deal with a fifth-year option. Quarterback Caleb Williams, the No. 1 pick in the 2024 draft, is the Bears’ only rookie who has yet to sign a contract.

Williams, who is not represented by an NFL Players Association-approved agent, spoke about his contract situation last weekend during the inaugural Caleb Cares Foundation event in Chicago.

“I don’t do that job,” Williams told the Chicago Tribune on Saturday. “My lawyers, my lawyers, everybody, the Bears’ president, everybody at the top, they do that job. That’s not my position to do that job.”

Negotiations are “progressing” between the team and the 22-year-old midfielder, a source told ESPN, with all outstanding contracts expected to be finalized by the team’s first practice on Saturday.
