Singer RAYE breaks record with seven nominations at BRIT Awards

RAYE has been nominated in seven categories for the BRIT Awards. Never before has an artist been so nominated.

To date, the most nominations in a single year is six. Only Craig David, Gorillaz and Robbie Williams have managed it.

RAYE can go home on March 2 with awards for Artist of the Year and Best Song (Escape.(and best album)My 21st century blues). She was also nominated as a female artist in the Pop and R&B categories.

The organization doubled the number of nominees for two gender-neutral categories to ten after mainly men were nominated last year. In the Artist of the Year category this time, six out of the ten contenders are women. RAYE is competing against Dua Lipa and Jessie Ware, among others.

And in this year’s International Artist of the Year category, the difference is even greater: Olivia Rodrigo, Kylie Minogue and Taylor Swift are among the eight women who have a chance to win this statue.

The BRIT Awards will be presented on March 2 at the O2 Arena in London. Dua Lipa, among others, will perform during the ceremony.
