'US nuclear strategy focuses on China for first time'

The United States has adopted a new nuclear strategy, according to The New York Times (NYT), which for the first time targets China. President Joe Biden reportedly already approved the highly classified document in March.

Previous nuclear strategies, which are reviewed every four years, have largely focused on Russia. Four years ago, China was mentioned, but due to the rapid development of Chinese nuclear weapons, that country will now take center stage in the document.

And, for the first time, the White House is seriously considering several nuclear powers joining forces against the United States, the NYT writes. This mainly concerns Russia, China and North Korea. The countries are growing closer and, like Beijing, Pyongyang has significantly increased its nuclear arsenal in recent years.
