In the run-up to his arrival on the TV show Zomergasten, actor Pierre Bokma expressed his preference for Hanneke Groenteman as an interviewer. He said this at the start of the broadcast on NPO 2 on Sunday, and coincidentally, Groenteman also indicated to the programme makers that he would like to speak to Bokma. “Things can’t get any worse this evening,” said Groenteman.

Bokma, 68, was originally supposed to be a guest at Sommergastein last year, but circumstances did not work out. When they asked again this summer, and Adrian van Dis would be the host, Bokma agreed. “I know him well, and I trust him too. But he called in sick. And then I was a bit relieved, because I didn’t have to do it anymore. The bell saved me,” Bokma told Gruntmann. “But then they said: We’ll keep going. Bokma laughed.” “And the emergency concept now is that we have a different host for each guest. We have Joris… Hanneke… Hanneke-Gruntmann? Yes. And then it turned out that you also had a preference.”

Groenteman, who hosted Zomergasten for the 1998 season, began the broadcast with Bokma in an unusual way for the program. She showed a segment from the series in which Bokma played the lead role last year, “The Jewish Council.” After the segment, Groenteman was visibly emotional. “I can’t see it,” she said. Bokma then explained how the role of chairman David Cohen had changed for him personally.

Later in the evening, Bokma’s selected Summer Guests film, We Need to Talk About Kevin, will be broadcast on NPO 2.
