Anyone calling the restaurant to make a reservation will be contacted immediately via an answering machine. The message reads: “We are currently closed due to circumstances.” Reservations can no longer be made via the website.

Co-owner Lars Albers gives a brief explanation: “Unfortunately, we are permanently closed and will not open again. The corona period, the energy crisis and the general inflation have unfortunately become too much for us.”

The Vigor restaurant, by chef Lars Albers and sommelier Randy Boyer, was one of the best restaurants in our province. At least that’s what the Michelin inspectors thought. The restaurant opened in 2020 and after just one year they already got a delicious apron. That’s one of the ratings that Michelin inspectors can give to restaurants.

The restaurant continued to gain recognition after that. In 2022, they were awarded a Michelin star, something many restaurants dare to dream of. But these culinary achievements did not go smoothly. In the background, the restaurant was suffering from one crisis after another.

Crisis after crisis
They were still full during the Corona period when the restaurant opened. But due to the Corona measures, the restaurant ended up being closed more than it was actually open. Later, like many entrepreneurs, they ended up in the energy crisis. As the crisis worsened, the restaurant also had to deal with rising costs due to inflation.

That’s why the doors are now permanently closed to Vigor. “That’s why we made the choice to close immediately to prevent damage and deprivation,” Albers concludes.
