Sonos Again Lets You Set Up Local Music Libraries Via App – Picture & Sound – News

Sonos has reintroduced some core features in its new app, including the ability to configure local music libraries. These features were already present in the old Sonos app, but were missing from the new mobile app the audio maker launched in May.

Sonos will release the update to its new app on Thursday, July 18, the manufacturer confirms in a press release. The biggest changes are in support for local music libraries. For example, “settings and configurations” for these libraries are now available via the mobile app. It’s also now possible to search local music libraries in the app.

The July 18 update also includes improvements to autoplay, compression settings, accessibility to settings, firmware update notifications, and volume settings. Additionally, the Sonos Amp and Port can now be configured in mono and stereo mode, and a “forget system” option has been added to the Android app.

Some other features currently missing from the new Sonos app will follow in August. For example, in early August, users will be able to downgrade their S2 devices back to S1 and keep offline devices. At the end of August, playlists will be able to be adjusted in the Sonos app and there will be an editing function for queues.

Sonos released its updated mobile app in May of this year. According to the manufacturer, the completely redesigned app aims to “support more innovations in the coming years.” However, many core features from the old Sonos app were also missing. As a result, users criticized the update. Shortly after the release, Sonos promised to reintroduce functionality from the old app.
