Rumor: PlayStation 5 Pro to be revealed in September, looks like a ‘Slim’ – Gaming – News

According to rumors :)

PS5 Pro GPU
The PlayStation 5 Pro’s biggest upgrade is said to be in its graphics power. While the regular PS5 runs at 10.28 teraflops — a measure of roughly how powerful a console is — that number triples to 33.5 teraflops with the Pro. Of course, that doesn’t mean much, so to put it in perspective, the rendering speed is up by 45 percent. More polygons load faster, which in turn results in nicer images on your screen.

Ray tracing is also making great strides. This realistic way of simulating light is relatively difficult, but the PS5 Pro should have far less of an issue than the regular PlayStation 5. According to Henderson, the quality of ray tracing is typically three, and sometimes four, times better on the PlayStation 5 Pro than on the original model.

In addition to raw power, this is also made possible by AI and an upscaling process called PlayStation Spectral Supersolution Upscaling (PSSR). Thanks to these improvements, the PlayStation 5 Pro will also focus on supporting 8K resolution. Eventually, the technology should make 8K 60fps and 4K 120fps possible, but only on consoles that come out after the PlayStation 5 Pro. In any case, AI upscaling will play a significant role in Sony’s new console. According to rumors, PSSR will also work with existing PlayStation 5 games. If so, those games will also run at a higher resolution.

CPU
Compared to the GPU, there’s said to be very little going on with the PlayStation 5 Pro’s CPU. The chip will be the same as the one in the base model — presumably for backward compatibility and cost savings — with or without an additional “boost mode.” The new console has a CPU overclocking mode that boosts the PS5 Pro’s performance slightly, by 10 percent to be exact.

When this mode is enabled, the GPU performance is reduced, but by at least 1 percent. If you were hoping for a big difference in frame rate between your old and new console, you’re in for a rude awakening. The CPU actually determines the number of frames on your screen.

memory
The base model of the PlayStation 5 launched with an 825GB SSD, and the PS5 Slim was later expanded with a 1TB hard drive. The PlayStation 5 Pro continues this. Although you can always expand the storage space of your PS5.

Additionally, the PlayStation 5 Pro’s RAM is also larger than its predecessor. The upgrade features 18GB of RAM, which is 28 percent more than the 14GB of previous models.

The Verge reports that the PS 5 Pro’s system memory will be increased by 1.2GB compared to the current PS5, from 12.5GB to 13.7GB.
