Quinty Trustfall, 52, and her sister Delphine are a source of support for each other, but in the past they used to get blood from each other’s fingernails. In her new Dragonfly column, she tells in vivid detail about an argument that got out of hand with her sister.

“I knew exactly how to get my sister out of the closet.”

Quinty explains that she and her sister are “complete opposites” in personality. “Yin and yang don’t matter. She observes things, and I immediately dive into something. She likes peace and quiet, and I like chaos. Where I like things neat and tidy, Delphine doesn’t care about that.”

In the past, sisters would clash a lot. “Then I express myself carefully. I remember an argument, I have no idea what it was about, emotions were so high.”

“I can be naughty and I know exactly how to get my sister into trouble,” Quinte admits. “It worked out pretty well that afternoon. She threw a chair at me out of anger and helplessness. A blue steel chair from Ikea. (…) I see this thing coming towards me, it bends smoothly and… John Travolta’s mirror is completely destroyed.”

Fortunately, the girls were unharmed and just burst into laughter, and despite the argument, Quinty and Delphine “loved each other very much.” “Over the years we grew together more and more.” Especially when they lost their father and mother. “Maybe the death of our parents contributed to it. Suddenly we were orphans, no longer parents, just me and Fiennes. We also experienced a lot of beautiful things, things that no one understands. What we have is unbreakable.”
