Nvidia working on RTX 3050 laptop with Ada Lovelace GPU from RTX 40 series – Computer – News

Nvidia is working on a new RTX 3050 video card for laptops, but instead of an Ampere GPU, it will run on a GPU with the Ada Lovelace architecture for the RTX 40 series. Nvidia confirms that the card will be available, but doesn’t yet know what the company plans to do with it.

Nvidia GeForce RTX 3050 A confirmed To the notebook. The company does this after doing so previously. The information appeared in the PCI ID database. The RTX 3050 GPU for laptops is based on the AD106 die. This is the Ada Lovelace architecture, which Nvidia later introduced in the RTX 40 series.

It’s not yet known what this means in practice. For example, other AD106-based GPUs, like the RTX 4060 Ti and RTX 4070 for laptops, have 4,608 CUDA cores. However, Nvidia confirms that this has been significantly reduced in the new RTX 3050 A. The company says it will have 1,792 CUDA cores. Nvidia also says it’s a GPU with 4GB of GDDR6 VRAM on a 64-bit memory bus. The card also has a TDP of 35 to 50 watts.

Nvidia is offering little additional details about the model. Nothing is known about its release date and what hardware it might end up running. It’s also unclear whether some of the RTX 40 series exclusive features, like DLSS 3 Frame Generation, will be available for this model.
