Minisforum Introduces UM890 Pro Mini PC with OCuLink Port for External GPU – Computer – News

Minisforum presents the new UM890 Pro mini PC. These barebones houses an AMD CPU with eight Zen 4 cores. The device also gets an OCuLink port, which allows users to connect an external video card. Recommended retail price is €689.

Minisforum UM890 Pro offers AMD Ryzen 9 8945HS processor with eight Zen 4 cores and 45W TDP. The device also has two SO-DIMM slots with support for up to 96GB DDR5 memory and two M.2-2280 slots with a PCIe 4.0 interface. Minisforum offers the mini PC as a barebones machine without memory and an SSD, but it can also offer a maximum of 64GB of memory and a 1TB SSD from the factory.

The UM890 Pro uses the Radeon 780M GPU integrated into the AMD processor as standard. There is also an OCuLink port on the back of the device. This is specifically designed for connecting external video cards and provides a bandwidth of 64 Gbit/s, which is equivalent to four PCIe 4.0 lanes. To use this port, users must have a discrete video card, an OCuLink docking station, and a separate power supply. Minisforum sells a separate dock for €109.

The mini PC also has two USB4 connections, four 10Gb/s bandwidth USB-A ports, an HDMI port, a DisplayPort connection, two 2.5Gb/s Ethernet ports, and a 3.5mm jack. The device is powered by a 19V DC power supply. Minisforum says it will deliver the PC from the end of July. The stripped-down version has an official recommended retail price of €689.
