Mark Gillies, 28, is no longer in intensive care. His family reported this on Monday. The son of Peter Gillies, the holiday park owner known for his role in the reality series “Massa is Kassa”, has been in hospital for weeks with double pneumonia.

Mark was moved to a closed ward on Monday, “where they will continue to work on his recovery and rehabilitation.” The Gillies family said: “This is a significant milestone after a 24-day recording.”

According to his loved ones, Mark was only able to sleep well for the first time over the weekend after being awake, restless and anxious for several days. “This sleep has benefited him, as since waking up he has been more lucid and less anxious. It has provided him with nice moments to connect with,” the family wrote.

“This past week has been an intense week,” said Gillis’ family, who have never left him alone. “Because of his confusion and anxiety, it has been essential for us as a family to be with Mark 24 hours a day, with the doctors.”

When his family wasn’t there, he was “uncontrollable.” “Being alone was never an option. Our presence gave him some peace and a sense of familiarity.”
