Intel is not impressing investors, and its announcements do not show a clear change in direction that would bring confidence. In this they remain far behind the rest of the computer/chip/technology industry.
Intel has been stalling for longer, but continues to cling to its old concept. There are enough smart people and also ARM licenses. They should have realized long ago that they had to introduce completely new products. ARM, Open Risc, whatever.
When the SoC in iPhones became faster than Intel’s laptop chips, it sparked ridicule. The M4 in the iPad is now faster than Intel’s fastest processors, according to benchmarks. I have the strong impression that people are watching the storm like chickens.
The first generation Snapdragon for Windows on ARM that’s rolling out now seriously rivals Apple’s M3. This is clearly the future of the laptop sector. The segment where Intel made the most profits.
