Intel doesn’t know how to fix the bug with the i9 chip

Intel weet niet hoe het de bug met de i9-chip kan oplossen

Intel is at a loss. The i9 chip found in many desktop computers has major problems and has no solution. The problem can cause computers to become unstable in terms of performance.

It’s supposed to be one of the best chips on the market, but it crashes games in some cases. Games often demand a lot from the processor and the i9 seems to be unable to handle this properly due to an error occurring. This mainly concerns the 13th and 14th generation Intel Core i9 Raptor Lake and Raptor Lake S chips.

Intel is aware of the issue, and although several media outlets wrote that they were identifying the cause, it appears that is not the case. “Contrary to recent media reports, Intel has not confirmed the root cause, and, along with its partners, continues to investigate user reports of instability issues on 13th and 14th generation Intel Core desktop processors,” Intel says. A microcode patch has been released, but it fixes another bug that Intel found while investigating the i9 issue. However, it is possible to contribute to instability.

So the chant was a bit early: there is no solution to the problem yet. One reason may be that Intel chips overrate themselves: they overclock their cores, when they’re too hot to do so properly. Intel still has a lot of work to do to come up with a solution. If you’re using a PC with an i9 processor, it’s dangerous to play heavy games: you can simply lose your progress if it becomes too much for the processor.
