“GTA V Single Player DLC Canceled Due to GTA Online Success” – Games – News

Former Rockstar Games employee Joseph Rubino claims that no additional single-player content was created for GTA V because GTA Online proved to be a success. Some ideas from the DLC could have been incorporated into GTA Online.

Robino says During the SanInPlay podcast He was one of Rockstar Games’ editors and camera artists during the development of Grand Theft Auto V. The man said he was put on a team that was to further develop GTA Online, while a team was also formed to oversee the development of the single-player downloadable content (DLC) for GTA V. According to Rubino, one of the game’s three main characters played a major role in this DLC: Trevor. This role was played by actor Steven Ogg.

Rubino claims that the single-player DLC was already halfway complete when Rockstar finally pulled the plug. “It was a business decision,” Rubino says. “When GTA Online came out, it turned out to be a very profitable project financially. Looking back now, I think Rockstar could have done both.”

GTA V was released in September 2013. The game was then released for PS3 and Xbox 360, but was later also released for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X. The game was the second best-selling game of all time.

In December 2023, Rockstar Games released the first trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI. The game is set in Vice City in the fictional state of Leonida and features a female lead character named Lucia. GTA VI will be released in 2025 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series consoles.
