Former Google CEO Explains to Stanford Students How Schools Can Copy Apps – IT Pro – News

I don’t understand why we use AI to basically mimic human creativity? AI writes a message for you? So you’re no longer allowed to think for yourself about what words to use and how to phrase a sentence. Leave that to Ai. Make art? Well, it costs a lot of money and takes a long time, and Ai will sort it out for me, so I don’t have to pay anyone. Write a report? Well, I’ll let ChatGPT write everything for me and the occasional “human error” here and there, so I don’t have to think about it too much.

I think adults today will come up with reasons to the contrary and explain that it’s only somewhat useful, or say that people wouldn’t use it very extensively. But if young people grow up with this, they’ll never understand what life is like without Ai. They won’t be able to think back on moments when they would have benefited from doing things themselves without Ai in their lives. And since they haven’t experienced it, the moral issue isn’t something that will gnaw at their brains.

My opinion is that Ai is interrupting a lot of healthy thinking and wants to take charge.

I’ve already encountered this a little bit with digital. Typing words by hand is better than using a keyboard. But the keyboard is faster and more efficient. But still, when I take notes by hand, I understand them better than when I type them on my laptop.

I think Ai does this in a weird way too. It quickly writes everything out for you. You don’t have to look for sources yourself, the LLM will sort that out for you. You can look everything up through the sources it finds for you, but the effort of thinking about where a good source is and what a good source is is wasted.

Will you soon be needed as a secretary to write letters? As a writer, as an art director, as a musician, as a 3D artist, as a teacher. Are your ideas no longer unique? Because AI can mimic the way you think, speak and work?

What’s the point of all this? Great if we don’t have to work anymore and have more time to do what? Be creative? AI can already do that, make music, art, movies, books, sound like a real person, who knows, it could also start a podcast, become a comedian, etc.

It can also be used politically. I find it all strange and moving too fast… And under the banner of capitalism, we also want to use humanity as a revenue model.
