A member company recently asked the following question about this:
One of our customers from the US requests ECCN numbers for the goods we are going to ship to him. It includes a computer, a router and a tablet. How can I find such a number?

There are three ways to find the correct ECCN.
- If it’s a US product or a product previously imported from the US to Europe, you can check with the US manufacturer or exporter. In the past, they had to mention the ECCN while exporting.
- Another option is to consult the US Bureau of Industry and Security’s Trade Control List. This can be done by CCL Index from Bureau of Industry and Security. Based on that list, you can further look at product categories and determine which ECCN classification best matches the product’s description. To use this method, you must have adequate technical knowledge of the product.
